Capri, for those of you who don't know, is an island off the Amalfi Coast of Italy, close to Napoli/Naples. It's a traditional Italian holiday destination, and this is reflected in their choice of taxis to shuttle you around the island. After all, why go on holiday only to be sealed into a vehicle with only a dubious air freshener and/or the taxi driver's own cologne/body odour for company when you can enjoy the sun and soak up some rays, possibly even attract some jealous looks from passers by? Disclaimer: I've never been to Capri, but it does look lovely. I have been in some taxis, though.

When it comes down to executive saloons, the Germans have the market swept. While the S Class has held the podium for longer than it perhaps should have regarding the technical innovation that slowly find its way into everyday cars, BMW and Audi have stepped up to challenge the Sebastian Vettels of the saloon market to the point that the three giants just now copy each others strategy until they produce the same vehicle. The Big Question: Are these German saloons the automobiles for the discernibly sophisticated and respected CEOs, or the automobiles for over-paid pricks with no taste?

I know more about rock music than I do about cars, but cars are more fun to write about. I spent my first ever two weeks wages (£4.50 a week as a paperboy, 6am start every single day) on a Muddy Waters album. That was 1984 and Duran Duran and Wham! were riding high in the charts. I couldn't give a fig about such electronic pop. I was far more interested in noisy rock and blues - and still am. My choice in cars is similarly luddite. My 2004 Audi S4 is for sale due to lack of use whilst I drive everywhere in my 1986 Porsche 924S.

Race cars converted to be used on the road. These cars are no longer legal for the racing series they were originally meant for, but they were all originally born in race shops. So, take your pick, which if these three would you choose to cruise around town in?

Ford posted a grouping of photos celebrating Mustangs that never were. I picked out a few that seemed interesting. I'm certain many of you have seen these, but they seemed either really interesting or deserved a palm-slap to the forehead. [Here] you see a hard-top variation of the Mustang 1 concept from 1962 which had its inspiration in part from the GT-40 MK1.

The new Impala looks great on the road and while I haven’t driven one I’ll bet it'll be competitive within it's class (medium well-luxury full-sized sedan). Thousands of Americans seeking an American sedan, who aren’t interested in Cadillac and Buick, but want something from General Motors that is not a Malibu or Cruze, will be happy to Find New Roads in this American icon of a luxury sedan… I can’t shake the feeling that the new Impala, while a good looking car, isn’t the same Impala I remember growing up. I can’t picture it cultivating the same automotive styles I remember.
